I was visiting Barboursville Winery this weekend when this white car pulled up. Any idea what it is? By the time I got back down to the parking lot for a closer look, they had left.

Looks like a 2nd gen Valiant... mid 1960's possibly a 1966.

Indeed. Much like the Mustang was based on the Falcon and the Camaro was based on the Nova.

It’s a 65 Valiant. 64 front fender is different. 65 crease is close to parallel to the body lines.

All original expect paint (was repainted original color). Numbers matching 273 and 4 speed. Factory A/C. Documented ownership from new, two owners.
Source: In-Laws backyard. Hasn’t been driven in at least ten years. I still start it up every month.

Speaking of Valiants. I finally got the brakes and suspension done and it is off the jack stands. I drove it around the yard to check out the brakes. No if I could only get the brake switch to adjust properly, I will be on the road.

Those are kind of cool looking cars, but my youthful experience with Plymouth Valiant was not so great. Was the family car, a 74, powder blue, 4 door, auto, slant six, no AC. Was tuned so lean to meet emissions that it would die when you goosed it when it was really cold out even when the car was fully warmed up.
But the worst was that it was a granny car in the worst way, and despite all my efforts to kill it, it would not die.
